Its diverse landscape offers travelers incredible choices, from trekking up 2,000-meter-high mountains in the Julian, Karavanke, or Kamnik-Savinja Alps, or strolling along the Slovene Riviera coastline in the southwest.

Unwind: relieve stress with a daily dose of nature

Slovenia is known as the land of healthy waters, with over 13 certified natural spa resorts and many other spas of varying sizes dotted throughout the country.

The Thermal Pannonian region in the east of Slovenia is known for such aquatic wonders. It is said to harness powerful healing effects thanks to a cocktail of natural elements, including therapeutic peloids – a mineral-rich mud. The relaxation starts immediately, as the warm mud quickly gets to work, as the heat seeps into the muscles, the stress melts away. This uniquely Slovenian approach to wellness blends natural goodness with techniques designed to make you feel great – inside and out.

After the treatment, many people experience a range of different benefits, from the full body buzz of improved circulation, the relief of no more muscular aches and pain, and even a detoxing of the skin.

The country also boasts a thriving glamping culture. In the northeast, Maribor offers luxury campsites with comprehensive facilities. Visitors – from families and couples to lone travelers – can fully immerse themselves in activities all day before settling to sleep beneath the stars at night.

This sensory experience makes the most of Slovenia’s natural environment. Enjoy the quiet serenity of the breeze against the canvas as you fall asleep or the sound of bird song gently waking you in the morning. As you soak away the aches of an energetic hike through the countryside in a private hot tub, take in the view of the river and hear the relaxing sound of its bubbling waters. In the summer, the delicate fragrance of wildflowers suffuses the air, providing a sensory backdrop to every moment of your stay. Some campsites offer unique experiences, such as the chance to stay in a treetop house, or the luxury of a chocolate-based massage – a great way to boost relaxation levels and endorphins as the evocative smell of chocolate fills the treatment room.

Wherever you go, you’ll be surrounded by nature, a proven way to enhance the well-being of both the body and mind.
